Credit Card Slave

I'm all set to fly, was worried about my credit card limit as I'll be there with CXOs. Colleagues lifted my worries when he told me that credit card can be use as debit card as well. All I have to do is to transfer some money into it in advance.

Eg.
My credit limit = RM15K
Transfer = RM5K
Swipeable (my own word) amount = RM20K

Viola!

ps. I'm glad that I didn't know about this because it means I've never over spend :P

Capri

A friend said that I'm a typical Capricon, so I searched up Wiki to see how did I fare as a fellow Capri.

Practical - A good start, no doubt.

Disciplined / methodical / organized - when I have a target

Prudent / cautious / careful - yeap, too many back stabbers around

Ambitious / focused - Hope to be a CTO someday

Trustworthy / dependable / reliable / Responsible - When I say yes, I will do it

Serious - In work, not in life

Self-reliant / independent - One leg kick

Steadfast / persevering / stable - What's doesn't kill you makes you stronger

Persistent / dedicated - I'm very goal oriented

Hardworking - When there's nothing to do, I will ular

Rational / reasonable - Give me proof will be the easiest way to convince me

Shrewd / wise - I hope so, but there are still so much to learn in life

Aloof / businesslike - That's the image I'm trying to portray in work

Tenacious - What does it mean??? Owh, stubborn ei? I guess so.

Self-critical - Continuous improvement and learning

Traditional / conventional - Not at all

Career-oriented - VERY!

Authoritative - Sometimes its required to get things done. I do it professionally though.

Competent - That's what I hope for

Strong - It's taxing. I'll be burnt out in no time.

Ideal Careers
Suitable occupations often cited are - any capacity of authority, doctor, lawyer, accountant, politician, teacher, principal, engineer, farmer, anything math related

Last I checked, I'm a Product Engineer.

Likes
Romance, loyalty, feeling secure, financial/material stability, ambitious mates, feeling committed, making long term relationship plans, dependability, reliability, perseverance.

Many don't know the real me. Most people thinks that I'm a party animal, in fact I enjoy drinking in a pub more compared to clubbing. I love to stay at home and cook. Bubble bath is amazing as well. As much as I value my career, my partner will be the utmost priority.

Dislikes
Flightiness, being bossed around, crudeness/coarseness, dominance, game playing, ego displays, extravagance, being challenged by a lover, indecisiveness.

I don't like being treated like a kid because of my age.

Certified a true Capri.

Woot!

I've set a financial target for myself after 1 month I joined my current company, I should save X amount by 1 year of employment. Up till last July, I've only manage to achieve 0.6X, ie. 60% of my target. Even those fringe bonus and not so honest claims didn't manage to help.

Problems as below:-
1. Crazy spending on clothes and food.
2. Expensive gifts every time I go back.
3. Liquor spendings in KLIA arrival hall.
4. Trusted a stocks tip from a friend. Lost quite a lot here. Yes, I mean a lot.
5. Splurge money for my DSLR.
6. Money to parents (this is not complaining, just to analyze where my money goes)
7. Traveling (takkan lah company already pay for flight ticket but I don't go ronda-ronda right?)

Any advice to save moolah?

狗眼看人低

I've reached the airport early to find out that there was a long queue for check-in. Accordingly to the announcement, it seems that the long queue is due to the implementation of the new early check-in system and the ground staff have not familiarize themselves with it yet. This has caused me a lot of time and you would understand that time was essential in solving my problem later.

When it was my turn, I found out that I didn't have my return ticket printed and I explained that I had the e-ticket in my laptop. Voula the staff who was assisting me left without any explanation. She went to the counter behind to discuss with another colleague. Sensing that she didn't understand the situation properly, I waved to her asking her to come to the counter but she raised her voice and told me that she's preparing a ticket for me.

After a good 10 minutes, she returned with a "ticket". I asked her whether I'll be charged for the ticket and she said no. I further explained that I would not need the ticket because I have a Malaysian Airlines ticket returning to Malaysia from Auckland. Upon hearing this, Voula said that I had to have the ticket printed. By this time, Peter joined the conversation.

Peter tried to explain to me the requirements for you all to clear me for check-in. From his explanation, I could tell that Peter did not fully understand the situation. When I tried to explain it again, both of them kept interrupting me. At one point, the intonation that Peter used was almost insulting me. Voula suggested me to proceed to Malaysian Airlines office to have my ticket printed. I asked what shall I do after I have the ticket and Peter said that I should come back and they will deal with my Qantas flight ticket. I've asked a few times what do you mean by deal with my ticket and Peter kept repeating that they'll will deal with the ticket. Voula then said she'll try to check me in if possible. That was the answer that made me understand the processes. Peter then asked me to step aside to allow other passenger to check-in. When I kindly asked for Peter's name, using a rude gesture he showed my his name tag.

I went to Malaysian Airlines office to have my ticket printed within 10 minutes and went back to the counter at 1555hours to find out that the check-in has closed. Another staff arranged me to board QF49 instead.

From my point of view, it was my mistake where I didn't have a printed return ticket but all the hassle can be avoided.

To put it clearly, I'm not happy with the items below:-
1. A new check-in system was implemented without proper training and hiccup mitigation precautions causing long queue.
2. Voula left me without explaining anything.
3. She raised her voice to me in the public and does not have the courtesy to come and to speak to me. It's the first time an airlines staff raise their voice at me.
4. Voula and Peter could be more helpful if they were more attentive in understanding my problem. Both of them kept interrupting me. If they understand my problem perfectly, they could asked me to proceed to MAS immediately.
5. The intonation that Peter used was plain rude and insulting.

My guess is that you staff has high anxiety as they are pressured to rush the check-in due to the long queue. Without the long queue and if your staff could be more attentive, surely I'll board QF189 happily and be grateful with the assistance.

I have traveled with many airlines including budget airlines. This is the first time I was treated rudely. I will certainly file a complain to my company's purchasing department to suggest them to avoid your airlines.

Luck

Many of my friends and my colleagues says that I'm lucky, I don't deny it but its just half of the story. I always try to position me so that when luck would actually happen, it would be to my advantage. When I say try, its more about doing the best because you wouldn't know how does luck come.

When the bosses decided to send someone to US (luck happening), I positioned myself well this time. I worked my ass off although I don't know this (luck) will happen. If you are waiting for luck to happen while doing nothing, as in really lucky where no effort is required, then most probably it'll be a disappointing wait.

In the case where you have hints that luck may come in a certain way, then by all means work towards that direction and leave the rest to luck.

Think about it, you need to actually buy the lottery ticket (effort) then only you can be lucky.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger

I don't know how do you see it but in a way I'm glad that I've changed you. You are now a very independent and strong girl. Me always being far away from you isn't all bad after all.

I know many times you feel so bad and you wish for a shoulder or a pair of ears to listen to your problem. The thought about me being busy has marred your intention to share it and kept it all to yourself. I'm sorry.

Good luck in your career.

Age

I guess I blog almost every night nowadays, may be its because its so much less stressful here albeit the workload is still high.

Today we had a nice dinner. Everyone was happily drinking

It was the birthday of one of the bosses. Suddenly they talked about age of everyone. When people talk about my age, there are 2 type of reaction.

The more desirable one would almost awe in amazement. These are the people always guessed that I'm at high 20s, almost 30.

The uncles (aunties) who are full of themselves will rekindle small boys or baby jokes. They are the ones who will discount all your capabilities because you are deemed a kid to them.

Anyway, both inspires me to do better kenzosmileys

I took the car around Missionbay, Parnell and Newmarket. Tested the acceleration by flooring the pedal and ABS by braking hard. I felt happy driving the car zooming pass cars. Some how I kept thinking that I'm having all this fun because I'm not rich enough. If I'm rich enough, I wouldn't be as excited. Anyway, nothing comes close to this.

Nyuuyoku

Today the secretary asked what do I need in the apartment. I replied her mail saying that I need 7 new light bulbs kenzosmileys and dish washing liquid. kenzosmileys

While I was busy surfing Malaysia's news on the net, the secretary came to me and told me to go and collect the stuffs. To my amazement, she bought shampoo, body shampoo, conditioner, hanger, bulb, dish washer, hand washing liquid and toilet roll. kenzosmileys

As I've blogged about last time, the mainland ex-pat doesn't like to bathe. May be this is to encourage them to bathe more often. kenzosmileys To confirm the fact, starting today a colleague will stay with me for 1 week. He did not bathe before going to sleep after flying all the way from Melbourne.kenzosmileys

Snapped this picture when I got home.

After a long stressful day at work, this is what I do.
