1.00 NZD = 2.41782 MYR

Finally I’ve got out of Philippines. Well, although a fruitcake is still giving me problems. May be I should blog about him one day.

How’s Auckland? Initial impression includes it’s cold and wet. Very cold and wet as there’s a storm blowing over north island now. Food is expensive and comes in big portion. I’m here with a colleague so we share the food.

It’s the first time that I’m traveling with a colleague who wants to save loads of money. I don’t mind sharing but for the purpose of saving, I rather buy fresh vege and cook some noodles for dinner.

I’m back into the stressful mode as the goal is to bag this project. A high expectation is set as everyone thinks I’m “wonder” boy. It’s not a good feeling. Whenever you ask for assistance or raise a problem, colleagues will say “You so keng, sure can one”. I’m not sure how big our chances are as I’ve haven’t have the chance to meet with customer yet.

May fly to Sydney next month as my colleague there is overwhelmed by high workload. He has been working for 3 weekends now. One thing I love working here is that no one wishes to work after office hours and you won’t be blamed if you refused to work after office hour.

Sorry for the crappy flow of my blog. Random thoughts being scribbled.

Sincere = 100%

Today I wanted to meet up with a friend to share my joy. The meeting was far from pleasing.

Prologue

After I went back to Pinoyland last monday, I've started the handover process. Announced it to everyone and I'm all set for Kiwiland.

Body

Came back yesterday and went into office today. Discussed about work with boss/colleague. When I was about to leave, my boss told me he have something to discuss with me.

HQ has been cued that US office requires a WiMAX "expert", my big boss has asked permission from my boss to send me there permanently.

My boss told him that South Pacific region is short of manpower and needs me to stay. The plan is to finish Kiwiland project and then only move to US. He asked me to discuss with my parents and slowly sort things out. Most probably I'll join US office after X'mas if I'm the one who's confirmed for it.

End
May be next time the meeting would turn out better.

Be careful of what you wish for!

1 year in Hu@wei. What does it feel like? You've guessed it, hard work, high stress, long working hours, etc etc. It doesn't stop there, you have to put up with rude people, people with zilch idea of hygiene, constant lies, etc etc. Can't say enough about it.

I'm hired as CDMA/WiMAX Product Engineer for Asia Pacific region, some changes on the scope, designation and region since then. I'm now a WiMAX Product "Manager" for South Pacific region. My role has include Project Management of South Pacific. All project reports have to be sent to me for consolidation and review.

Countries that belongs to South Pacific
Australia
Fiji
New Zealand
Papua New Guinea
Solomon Islands
Bangladesh
Malaysia
Singapore
Indonesia
Pacific Islands (many small countries here)

I'll be focusing more on Australia and New Zealand and those countries around them. Pros and Cons lah, nice country, slow pace, good food but expensive cost of living.

Wobbly Wobbly

Yesterday was the first time I've experienced earthquake. I was a small one though. I was standing while giving a presentation to the customer and one of them said, "I think it's an earthquake".

When I paused my presentation, I felt like the floor was moving. Some sort like the feeling when you are on a LRT. After awhile, it stopped. Nothing too special about it.

On my plans to NZ, SCREW THIS !@#^&*&^%$# COMPANY! There's a permanent staff here, one staff has arrived and 2 is coming to relief of my duties here but they don't want to let me go!

This weekend there's a meeting in Malaysia, when I asked for permission to go back, they told me no unless I fly back on Friday night and back here Sunday night. Are you crazy?! I planned to go back to pick up my watch which I sent to repair and send my super zoom lens for warranty. There's also a gathering of Hakka friends. Missed a chance to meeting up with the guys, they are masters of photochop.

You may notice that my picture is not in them because I seldom join them for gathering.

Constant traveling is fun ei?
