Almost there, final dash

Almost done with the project, finalizing the Bill of Quantity (BoQ). Will create history in ma company. First project to be closed in my region and the biggest deal in the world for ma company (volume is 70% of the current 17 projects added up together).

What's next? Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Vietnam or Japan. I would choose Malaysia in a heart beat, missing someone so much is hard.

Another reason is
BreadStory here sells Chic Floss bread for freaking ~RM3.80, sigh.....

Workaholic

I'm not a workaholic. Stop saying that. Being in the office for 7 days a week and up till late at night is not what I wished for.

**Back to pirating photos from the net, I sure miss my camera.

Time zone

I prefer the time where the sun rises in West Malaysia. For the rest of the world, the dawn and dusk comes earlier. Having said that, West Malaysia (and Singapore) is the weirdo in this case because we follow the time in East Malaysia.

Working with people in different time zone has its pros and cons. For me, since I'm handling Asia Pacific region, the total difference in my region is less than 5 hours (+2 for Aust and -3 for India relative to Bolehland/Beijing).

When we call for a meeting, we need to consider their lunch time, login time and logout time. Pity an Aussie colleague when I had to make him attend a 9pm meeting (Aust time).

Pros? We can work more efficiently as in our company works 24 hours. By the time I get into office, the Australian has submitted his portion. As I work through the day, the others will submit theirs.

Hero --> Zero

Venue: Vice President's Office
Attendees: VP, Marketing Director, Boss, colleague and myself
Description: Half way in the meeting, feeling bored. To avoid disturbing the meeting, I decided to type something on my laptop to talk to my colleague who is beside me.
Problem: My laptop was connected to the projector.

Untouchable Opportunities

Company is paying loads of money for car rentals and hotels. I wish I could make some money from these. For example, PHP4500*30days/12.5=MYR10.8K/mth for my hotel. Not all staff stays in hotel, some stays in service apartment. How I wish I could buy an apartment and rent it to my company at half of the price, but company rules forbids it. Same thing goes for renting cars.

My transportation and accommodation would cost some serious hole in company's accounts. Sometimes I wonder how can the company keep me here for so long and still can make money from the projects. Well, most probably its because the products are sold in USD. So going back to the accommodation, it would only be USD3.27K.

Anyone interested in buying a few apartments and car with me and rent it out to my company?

Why are you still there?

I was sent here for a small 1 week assignment. While I was here, they figured I could help out with another project. When I'm almost done with both of the project, then came this project that I'm handling.

It was out of my job scope but it will help me tremendously in terms of knowledge and will boast my resume a lot. So I accepted it. With the 1 week baggage that I had, I was in Philippines for 3 months. The project drags longer and longer. Up until now, I'm still here for this freaking project. I've missed the chance to go to Australia and New Zealand.

The first week of April will be the end, this would really be the end because it decision cannot be extended anymore. Whether I get the project or not, I'm glad that I'll be going back. If I get the project, then I'll have to settle some stuff before I go and it may drag to May. If not then bye bye for good, don't plan to accept any more assignments here. Need a new environment for a change.

Something to keep me going

Today something came into my Lotus Notes, my team and I won some awards. Last time around, I got RMB800 and this time its RMB2600. To think about it, the total bonus in Huawei is not bad after all. 1 month confirmed bonus and another performance bonus coming on April, crossing my fingers for this.

Travel allowance is adjusted and its more interesting now. Then again, as I've always said, the pay is not proportion to the workload and stress. Working 7 days a week and sleeping less than 6 hours a day is not fun at all. Alive but not living.

How long before I jump ship again? Thinking about moving to HK as competitor is hiring there and there's the HQ offer. To be honest, so far I'll be staying put unless Princess Peach decides to move to some where else.

Sorry for the crappy quality, paint sucks

Learning is knowing something you didn't know you don't know

I was exploring how to prevent the recipient of my mail to forward or copy my mail and during my exploration I found out something interesting. Notice the Options button on the right? Click it.

It will bring up the Delivery option. Now, do you see the "Do not deliver before:"? Yesterday I tested this out. In case you don't know, working until wee hours is normal for me. I finished my work at 1am and configure it to be sent at 4:12am. This morning, when I get to office, the mail was sent at 4:12am exactly.

Just now my boss called me to check on something and asked me to rest more. Just don't get caught ok?

Ya hor......

Wanted a quick dinner due to workload but the customer invited me for dinner so I attended the dinner and left shortly after. While leaving, she said, come to my next party ok? The friend giggled, "Yeah, 2012 then". "I'm only 7, you know?", said the birthday girl.

Been so busy with work that I forgot about the date.

Yesterday, while I was walking to the party, I deliberately pass by at the center of a rally. No, not Dhaka Rally, its the one about the pinoys here wants to force Arroyo down. From the scale of the protest, I think it's bigger than Bersih. The event was covered by the media properly. Imagine a proper stage, proper media only area, police being stationed to make sure the protesters are safe.

When I think about Bolehland, com'mon, we are far behind. Even peaceful protest can't be held. Our media? They are just puppets. I've requested to fly back tentatively at 7th March. I will vote!
